TVNZ has been confirmed as the Official Broadcaster for the Louis Vuitton 38th America's Cup Match, the Preliminary Regattas, the Louis Vuitton Cup, the Women's America's Cup, and the Youth America's Cup. Every race across all those competitions will go out live and free-to-air on TVNZ 1 and TVNZ+, with replays available on TVNZ DUKE.

The confirmation revives one of the longest-standing partnerships in New Zealand sporting television. Television New Zealand's ties to the America's Cup date back to the 1987 regatta in Fremantle, Western Australia, and the relationship has since produced some of the most memorable moments in the country's sporting broadcast history, shaped in particular by the successive campaigns of Emirates Team New Zealand. For the Louis Vuitton 38th America's Cup in Naples, coverage will span TVNZ 1, DUKE, TVNZ+, and 1News.

Emirates Team New Zealand CEO Grant Dalton welcomed the renewed arrangement. "Historically, TVNZ has always delivered compelling coverage and a unique connection with the America's Cup to the people of New Zealand by bringing innovative graphics and the best Kiwi world-class commentators that captured Kiwi's imagination through the ups and downs the America's Cup always delivers. It's great that we could bring TVNZ back for the Louis Vuitton 38th America's Cup and give fans free-to-air coverage of what is set to be a stand-out Cup in Naples where we go into the 'Lion's Den' as the Defender seeking to win for the fourth time in a row which would be unprecedented in the competition's 175 year history."

TVNZ Chief News and Content Officer Nadia Tolich said it was exciting to see the America's Cup join the blockbuster line-up of live sport available at Te Reo Tātaki.

"Emirates Team New Zealand is part of Aotearoa's DNA. As a nation, we love getting behind our team out on the water and it will be a privilege to bring viewers every regatta and race, live, and free-to-view across our platforms. We're right behind Grant and the team as they compete to once again make America's Cup as New Zealand's Cup."

Coverage gets under way with the first Preliminary Regatta in Sardinia, running from 21 to 24 May 2026. Among the key storylines TVNZ will follow is Emirates Team New Zealand's two-boat entry, one of which will be crewed by a 50/50 mix of Women & Youth sailors.
