About Us
GoBoating.nz exists because New Zealand is, at heart, a nation of boaties.
We are surrounded by more coastline per capita than almost anywhere on earth, threaded with harbours, rivers, lakes and sounds that have shaped how we live, holiday, compete and connect. From the Bay of Islands to Bluff, from a dinghy on a Central Otago lake to an AC75 foiling across the Waitemata, boating is not a niche interest here. It is part of the national identity.
GoBoating.nz was founded to reflect that, in full.
We cover every kind of boating New Zealanders actually do: sailing and racing, powerboating and fishing, cruising and coastal exploring, paddleboarding and kayaking, classic wooden boats and the latest foiling technology, boat ownership and boat maintenance, marinas, moorings, boat clubs, boat shows, and the people who build, race, restore and simply love being on the water. We are not a magazine for one tribe of boaties. We are a home for all of them.
We believe good boating journalism does three things. It informs, with accurate, well-researched, and technically credible content. It celebrates, telling the stories of the sailors, fishers, builders, designers and everyday weekend boaties who make up our community. And it serves, giving practical, trustworthy information to people making real decisions about real boats.
New Zealand's boating story is still being written, on the water, in the sheds, in the marinas, and on the start lines. GoBoating.nz is here to tell it.
We are proudly, unapologetically, New Zealand's home for boating of every kind.
