Corrections Policy

GoBoating.nz is committed to accuracy. When we get something wrong, we correct it, promptly and transparently.

How to report an error

If you believe an article published on GoBoating.nz contains a factual error, please email editor@goboating.nz with:

- A link to the article in question

- A clear description of the error

- Supporting information or evidence where available

How we handle corrections

1. Review - every correction request is reviewed by an editor as promptly as possible.

2. Verification - we check the claim against original sources, transcripts, official results, or direct confirmation with relevant parties.

3. Action - where an error is confirmed, the article is corrected as soon as practicable.

4. Disclosure - because GoBoating.nz publishes online only, corrected articles carry a clear correction note at the base of the article, stating what was changed and when. Minor corrections, such as spelling or formatting, may be corrected without a formal note. Substantive corrections, such as factual errors, incorrect attributions, or incorrect results, are always disclosed.

Significant errors

Where an error is significant, materially affects the meaning of a story, or has the potential to unfairly harm the reputation of an individual or organisation, we will consider additional steps, which may include a standalone correction notice, a direct response to the person or organisation affected, and, where appropriate, removal of the incorrect material pending correction.

No corrections without review

We do not amend published content in response to a complaint or request without first verifying the claim. This protects both the integrity of our reporting and the interests of anyone raising a concern in good faith.
