Following an incident in Race 3, the umpires convened a Rule 14 hearing to examine what had occurred.
After reviewing the Race 3 start, the umpires concluded that the collision involving Brazil, Italy, and the USA had caused serious damage, and penalties were handed down accordingly. The event point penalties were distributed as follows: Team USA received a 7-point penalty, Italy received a 4-point penalty, and Brazil was issued no penalty.
Boating New Zealand contacted SailGP seeking further detail on the damage sustained during Race 3, though no response had been received at the time of publication.

A separate incident emerged late in Race 3, close to the finish, when Emirates GBR and The Bonds Flying Roos became involved in a dispute at the final mark. Both the Australian and British teams lodged protests over the incident, but the umpires determined that no penalty was warranted in the race final.
