Tudor Team Alinghi made their return to Sardinia's Gulf of Angels for the third and final day of racing at the Louis Vuitton 38th America's Cup Preliminary Regatta, carrying real determination to finish more strongly than Saturday had allowed. Moderate sea-breeze conditions were forecast once again, placing the emphasis squarely on clean boat handling, sharp tactical execution, and building momentum across the last two fleet races.
FLEET RACE 7
Lighter, more tactical conditions settled over the course for Race 7, making for a demanding opening race of the day for Tudor Team Alinghi. Paul Goodison and Phil Robertson worked hard across every leg, hunting for pressure and keeping the AC40 moving through a tightly packed field. The Swiss crew remained within reach of the lead group for much of the race but could not find the pace to advance further up the order, crossing the line in seventh place. GB1 took the win, with Luna Rossa and the French team filling the next two positions.
Natalie Brunner said: "We saw some good improvement with the boat compared to yesterday, and the boys were happy with how it was going. There were a few small tactical mistakes, but they're still in the early stages of learning how to work together, which is exactly why we came here. We're taking the positives from the race, regrouping, and putting together a solid plan for the next one."
