Behind every Race World Offshore World Championships event in Key West sits a medical team most spectators never think about, until something goes wrong. This year, that team is led again by Dr Kellee Reed.
Dr Reed, DO, FACEP, FACOEP, is a board-certified emergency medicine physician and Regional Medical Director for Mount Sinai Key West. She provides walk-in and primary care at the Mount Sinai Primary Care & Diagnostic Center in Key West, part of a network that has looked after Keys residents and visitors for more than four decades, running five locations across Monroe County, four in Key West and one in Marathon.
She came to Key West from Park City, Utah.
She earned her doctorate at Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky, before completing her emergency medicine residency at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, New York. She also mentors Florida State University College of Medicine students based in Key West, helping train the next generation of island physicians.
This is her sixth year on the medical team for the Race World Offshore World Championships, where she serves as medical director.
Away from the circuit, Dr Reed makes the most of living in what she calls one of the most amazing places in the world.
