Bont Rowing shoes, orthotics, and sunglasses are now available to order in New Zealand through Aotearoa Boat Company.
Bont Rowing has been producing carbon fibre split-sole shoes designed specifically for rowing since 2017. The range includes three models, the BR1, BR2, and BR3, with prices starting at $205 excluding GST. Volume discounts are available. All hardware and materials are marine-grade stainless steel and salt-water tested.
Standard colourways are available across all models, with full custom colours and logo options for clubs and teams.
Aotearoa Boat Company Director Nick Dawe has personal history with the brand. "I received one of the first prototype versions of this shoe when I was competing at the World Championships in 2017. It was the first time I ever put my feet into a rowing boat and felt completely comfortable. I didn't even feel I needed to wear socks with the quality of the material inside. I loved the shoes so much I've been rowing and coaching with them ever since. We're excited to promote the shoes further in New Zealand and get athletes thinking about their feet!"
Bont Rowing's Pro innersoles are produced in partnership with Cobra9, described as Australia's leading sports orthotics experts. The insoles feature a carbon core wrapped in dual-density EVA foam and are offered in three arch heights: low, medium, and high. They are designed to distribute peak forefoot pressure more evenly, supporting knee tracking throughout the stroke and improving power transfer.
The sunglass range consists of three frame styles, each available in three colour options, plus clear and photochromic. Frames are made from TR90 and house polarised lenses in a range of tints. All lenses carry anti-fog and scratch-resistant properties.
Aotearoa Boat Company will offer shoe fittings at regattas it attends during the 2024/2025 season.
