New Zealand windfoiler Aimee Bright has held the lead in the women's fleet at the iQFOiL under-23 World Championships for a second straight day, backing up her strong opening with another solid showing as racing switched to slalom format in Puck, Poland.
The Manly Sailing Club sailor, who won three of four course races on day one, finished third, fifth and first across her four slalom races overnight (NZ time), discarding an 11th. That was enough to keep her clear at the top of the standings after eight races.
Bright now holds a five-point advantage over Norway's Maya Gysler in second. Gysler's compatriot Tuva Oppedal sits third, a further point back.
Bright's training partner Stella Bilger, who now competes for Australia, is fourth overall.
The leading trio held their positions on day two without much change. Italy's Medea Falcioni provided the standout performance instead, the 15-year-old winning two races and finishing no lower than third in her remaining heats to climb into the top 10.
Bright will be looking to maintain her advantage as racing continues tonight, with the championship entering its next phase.
In the men's fleet, Italy's Federico Alan Pilloni remains firmly in control after winning all four of his heats on day two. Home sailor Stanislaw Trepczynski moved up into second overall with three race wins, while fellow Italian Leonardo Tomasini sits third.
