Ten years after the original model earned a loyal following across the globe, YYachts is ready to reveal something entirely new. When the German shipyard unveils its comprehensively redesigned Y7 at the Palma International Boat Show, running from 29 April to 2 May 2026, it will simultaneously mark a decade of anniversary celebrations and raise the bar for 22-metre luxury sailing. Carbon Yachts, the exclusive Australian and New Zealand representative for YYachts, will be on hand for the launch.
The first-generation Y7 was far from a quiet achievement. More than 20 boats were delivered to owners worldwide, giving the shipyard a substantial foundation. Rather than build on that platform incrementally, YYachts chose a more ambitious path, partnering with world-renowned naval architects judel/vrolijk & co to reconstruct the concept from scratch. The guiding philosophy, speed made simple, has been preserved throughout.
The most consequential change is the hull. A new shape with modern hydrodynamics produces a wider beam, delivering improved stability and more efficient sailing, particularly in light to moderate conditions. Relocating the mast further aft has sharpened upwind performance and expanded the upwind sail plan to 305 square metres. With the shipyard's signature lightweight carbon sandwich construction holding displacement to an industry-leading 31.5 tons, the redesigned Y7 can match wind speed in as little as five knots and remains comfortably manageable for a short-handed crew.
The deck layout reflects the same level of careful thinking. Shifting the companionway to the port side creates an unobstructed passage between the interior and the steering pedestals, while the reshaped cockpit prioritises both safety and comfort, with deep seating and winches offset to the centreline so crew can work clear of spray. YYachts' trademark flush deck and near-vertical coach roof windows are carried over, preserving the yacht's clean silhouette while keeping the interior naturally lit and cool. The tender garage is worth a mention on its own terms: it accommodates a 3.4-metre dinghy, a result made possible by the structural efficiency of the carbon build.
Below the waterline, the broader hull generates interior volume that the previous generation simply could not offer. Buyers may select from up to nine layout configurations and four distinct interior concepts, spanning a range from minimalist and contemporary through to warm and traditional in character. Options include an open or aft galley arrangement, a dedicated office studio, and a separate VIP guest cabin. The master suite has grown substantially, gaining a larger bathroom, a desk area, and the option of a walk-in wardrobe. No two boats will leave the yard configured identically.

For buyers based in Australia and New Zealand, Carbon Yachts offers a delivery process that begins in Europe. Owners may take handover there, spend a full Mediterranean season enjoying their new yacht, then leave the entire homeward voyage to Carbon Yachts to organise. Warranty and after-sales support continues once the vessel is sailing in local waters.
The interior of the new Y7 has been shaped through a collaboration between acclaimed Danish architect Studio David Thulstrup and YYachts' own in-house design team, a creative partnership that has become a recognisable hallmark of the brand's approach to understated luxury afloat.
The Y7 sits alongside the Y8 and the flagship Y9 within YYachts' carbon superyacht range. The shipyard will also use the Palma show to preview the forthcoming Y6, a 65-foot owner-operated superyacht drawn by Tripp Design Naval Architecture with interiors by Studio David Thulstrup, scheduled for launch in autumn 2026.
