The 2.0 Racing Team claimed the Barfoot & Thompson Female Sailor of the Year award at the 2025 Yachting Excellence Awards, capping a season that saw the all-female crew establish themselves among the best women's match racing outfits in the world.
Barfoot & Thompson is the title sponsor of the Yachting Excellence Awards, and their backing of the Female Sailor of the Year category reflects both their broader support of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and their commitment to community sport across Auckland.
Skippered by Megan Thomson and based at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, the 2.0 Racing Team delivered a standout performance at the 2025 World Sailing Women's Match Racing World Championship in Chicago. They pushed five-time world champion Pauline Courtois all the way to a winner-takes-all final race before finishing second, a result that echoed their silver medal from the 2024 worlds in Jeddah. Back-to-back runner-up finishes at world championship level, against the sport's dominant force, made a compelling case for the award.
The crew recognised alongside Thomson were Tiana Wittey, Josi Andres, Charlotte Porter, and Hattie Rogers. Beyond their podium results, the team was also celebrated for their influence as role models for young women in high-performance sailing.
