Westbrook top E1 standings after Price and Ordonez sweep Lake Como finals

Two names already well known to E1 Series fans delivered something special at Lake Como. Sara Price and Lucas Ordóñez combined to give Westbrook a second victory in the championship's history, and their dominance across both Finals left Will Smith's team sitting at the top of the standings. The achievement carried extra weight given the circumstances: Price sustained damage early in the day, sending the team scrambling through repairs before they regrouped to sweep Final 1 and Final 2.

Nothing about the path to that result was straightforward. In qualifying, Westbrook had to settle for second, with pole position going to Team AlUla, the outfit backed by NBA icon LeBron James. Pilots Rusty Wyatt and Nerea Martí put together a composed session to claim top spot, with Wyatt pointing to a strong second lap as the key after a scrappy opening run. For Martí, it was her first pole position in the team's colours.

Qualifying also delivered a rude shock to the teams who had arrived at Como in the strongest positions on paper. Aoki Racing Team and Team Brady had led the championship standings after Round 1 in Jeddah, but neither made it through Q2. Team Blue Rising and Team Rafa suffered the same fate, leaving all four outfits to work their way up from the back of the grid when racing got underway.

Team Brady's difficulties were not confined to qualifying. In Final 1, Emma Kimiläinen struck a course mark and damaged her E1 RaceBird, piling further pressure on the team. Sam Coleman steadied things to bring the boat home in third, which proved enough to secure Brady a podium and keep the team within striking distance at the top of the standings.

The most compelling individual display of the weekend belonged to John Peeters, flying the flag for Virat Kohli's Team Blue Rising. The American pilot arrived in Como at the foot of the championship order, yet produced two strong starts from the outside lane to lead in both races. That form earned him the PIF Pilot of the Day Award and helped lift Blue Rising to second place overall on the day.

Away from the racing, the event marked the debut of two notable new team owners. Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and NBA star Kyle Kuzma attended as co-owners of newcomers Sierra Racing Club, taking in the UIM E1 World Championship presented by PIF for the first time. The welcome from the wider ownership group was warm and immediate. "My brother Thibaut!! Welcome to the club!!" wrote Aoki in the team owner group chat, while Brady, characteristically direct, greeted Courtois by his most famous nickname: "The Wall! Thibaut!! Join the party."

That sense of camaraderie extended to the post-race moments as well. Once the Finals were done, LeBron James was among the first to reach out, messaging in the group chat: "Congratulations Will, amazing job by your team." Smith, jubilant after the result, could not resist a playful dig in reply: "Wait, why's Brady declining my calls?"

With the championship heading into its European leg, Westbrook lead on 60 points, Brady sit on 57, Aoki on 55, and AlUla on 46. Just 14 points separate the top four, and Round 3 heads to Dubrovnik.
