Excess Catamarans is bringing back its Factory Tours this March, opening the doors of its Vendée production facility in Poiré-sur-Vie to give visitors a genuine look at how its performance cruising catamarans are brought to life.
Scheduled for 20 and 21 March 2026, the tours take guests through the complete manufacturing journey at the brand's home base, starting from the earliest stages of moulding and continuing right through to final assembly and quality control. Every Excess catamaran begins its life on this factory floor, and the tour is designed to make that process transparent, tracing each major construction step and highlighting the craftsmanship underpinning the range.
Visitors move through the key production phases at close quarters, building a solid understanding of how design concepts are transformed into finished boats ready for the water. A particular draw is the human element: attendees have the opportunity to meet the teams and partners who conceive, shape, and assemble each catamaran, putting real faces to a process that few outsiders ever get to witness.
The programme also features guided introductions to several models in the current line-up. The Excess 11, Excess 13, and Excess 14 are all included, offering participants useful context around how each design is executed on the factory floor.
Rather than a straightforward walkthrough, the event is framed as an immersive experience, aimed at existing owners, prospective buyers, and boating enthusiasts who want to understand what genuinely goes into building an Excess catamaran before it ever sets sail.
