Iliad 53F

What about 1/5 of a boat, and you don't have to worry about cleaning

Fractional ownership isn't new to the cruising world, but it's showing up more often in the power catamaran space as buyers look for a way onto bigger boats without carrying the full cost themselves. YachtShare has just opened five shares in a new ILIAD 53F, based across two Queensland cruising grounds.

Each of the five owners gets 20% ownership and 66 allocated days aboard per year, plus access to standby days when the boat is otherwise free. YachtShare handles maintenance, administration and vessel prep.

The boat will split its year between two bases. From 16 June to 15 October it will sit in the Whitsundays, with each owner getting two 10-day blocks to cruise the islands and the Great Barrier Reef. From 16 October to 15 June it moves to Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron in Manly, covering Moreton Bay and the Brisbane coast.

The ILIAD 53F won Multihull of the Year and comes in a three-cabin layout for this build. Power comes from twin Cummins QSB6.7 engines at 550hp each. For time at anchor or away from marinas, it carries a 1,600W solar array, a 1,200Ah Victron lithium house bank, twin 8kW inverters and a Sea Recovery watermaker.

The syndicate term runs three years initially, with the option to extend in further three-year blocks up to nine years, subject to owner agreement.

Shares are available now through The Yacht Sales Co.
