Weymouth and Portland served up exactly the conditions the iQFOiL fleet had hoped for in its grand finale, and by the end of the day Tamar Steinberg and Luuc van Opzeeland had their names on the sport's biggest prizes.
Grey skies and a strong breeze, classic Weymouth weather, greeted the top ten men and women as they lined up for the Quarter Finals, the opening stage of a Medal Series where every race carried real stakes. Advance or be eliminated: there was nothing in between.
The men's fleet produced the bulk of the drama.
Tom Reuveny of Israel won the Quarter Final outright, with Federico Alan Pilloni of Italy taking the second qualifying spot through to the Semi Final. There they were joined by Johan Søe of Denmark, Nicolas Goyard of France and Kiran Badloe of the Netherlands.
Van Opzeeland made his move when it mattered most. The Dutchman won the first Grand Final race, banking two match points, enough to be crowned 2026 iQFOiL Men's World Champion.
Noah Lyons took the silver medal after a strong week in which he led the overall standings through the closing stages of qualification. Søe rounded out the men's podium in bronze.
In the women's fleet, Tamar Steinberg of Israel claimed the world title, with fellow Israeli sailor Sharon Kantor taking silver. Stella Bilger of Australia completed the podium in third, capping a decisive week at the top of world windsurfing.
