Twelve under-23 teams went head to head on Lake Bielersee for the 2026 Swiss J/70 Youth Cup, and Cercle de la Voile de Villeneuve left no doubt about the result.

The team won five of the seven races held over the weekend of 12-13 September to claim the gold medal, in a fleet that stayed tight all the way to the finish. Skipper Eric Cross steered the winning combination, backed by crew Miguel Vierra Batista, Camille Guess and Leonard Duriez.

Just five points separated first from third overall after seven races, with no discards.

Host club Yachtclub Bielersee II took the silver medal on 16 points, winning two races of their own. Matt Chassot skippered that crew, joined by Nolan Genzoni, Luca Schaad and Neela Chassot.

Bronze went to Regattaclub Oberhofen on 18 points, helmed by Louis Besch with crew Julie Besch, Xavier Nanuk Siegrist, Lina Portner and Angelina Kozachenko.

Fourth and fifth came down to a tiebreaker, both teams tied on 22 points. Yachtclub Bielersee, skippered by Nello Widmer, won the countback ahead of Segel-Club Enge, led by Luna Zuger.

Lake Bielersee sits in northern Switzerland, just northwest of Bern.
