Vetus, the Dutch engineering company with a strong following in New Zealand, used Boot Düsseldorf 2025 as the stage for a series of significant product announcements, cementing its reputation as one of the world's foremost developers of onboard boat systems and propulsion technology.
The headline reveal was an expanded E-Line electric propulsion range, with a new higher-output model set to join the existing 6kW, 8kW, and 11kW liquid-cooled systems. The addition extends the brand's reach into the market for larger and more performance-focused vessels, while retaining the plug-and-play compatibility that has earned the E-Line a loyal following among both original equipment manufacturers and those retrofitting existing boats. Quiet operation, minimal maintenance, and zero emissions remain the defining characteristics of the range.
That electric push sits alongside Vetus's well-established conventional lineup, including the M-Line diesel engines and BOW PRO thrusters, which continue to reflect the company's long-held philosophy of combining everyday practicality with precise engineering.
The Düsseldorf stand also highlighted what Vetus describes as a whole-of-vessel approach to marine systems. Rather than supplying isolated components, the company has focused for years on bringing engines, thrusters, exhausts, and anchoring equipment into unified, compatible networks. Working with YANMAR and partner brands Maxwell, Flexofold, and Smartgyro, Vetus is advancing system integration for both inboard and outboard configurations. Among the most compelling results of that work are joystick control solutions that combine engine and thruster management into a single interface, giving skippers precise, low-stress control during docking manoeuvres, something increasingly sought after by builders and recreational boaters alike.
Marketing Director Sander Gesink framed the exhibition as the opening chapter of a larger story for the business. "Boot Düsseldorf marks the beginning of an exciting year for Vetus," he said. "Our new headquarters and the systems we're showcasing reflect our commitment to sustainable, high-quality marine solutions and to supporting customers worldwide."
The new headquarters he referred to is a recently completed 9,500m² facility in Schiedam, in the Netherlands. Equipped with advanced testing laboratories, automated storage, and expanded production capacity, the site represents a long-term investment in the company's ability to meet rising global demand. It is a considerable step forward for a business founded in 1964 that now manufactures more than 4,000 products, the great majority of them designed and built in-house. Vetus maintains direct representation in 18 countries, supported by a wide international service network.
Electric propulsion is among the fastest-growing segments in recreational boating, and the trajectory of Vetus's product development reflects that clearly. Decades of engineering expertise, combined with significant resources directed toward cleaner propulsion solutions, leave the company well placed to lead the industry's shift toward smarter, more sustainable systems on the water.
