Racing is on hold in Valencia this morning, with the fleet sitting in a holding pattern offshore as the breeze struggles to fill in. Current readings have it at just 7 knots, below what's needed to get Group A and Group B underway for the final two races of the qualifying stage.
PredictWind has the sea breeze building through the morning, with 10 knots forecast to arrive around 3pm local time. That number matters more than it might sound: the F50s need real breeze to get up on their foils at all, and forecasts at this range are exactly that, forecasts. Valencia's sea breeze has a habit of arriving late, arriving light, or not arriving in any useful way at all. Race Committee will be watching it as closely as anyone, but nobody out here is treating 3pm as a certainty.
For now, there's genuinely nothing to do but what the fleet itself is doing: sit, watch the water, and wait for the wind to decide what kind of afternoon this is going to be.
Yesterday's conditions turned Day 1 into as much a test of boat handling as boat speed. If today's breeze arrives at all light, clean starts and clean manoeuvres will matter again more than raw pace. If it doesn't arrive in any real strength, there may not be enough to foil in at all.
