Two new pathway roles are on offer at Canoe Racing New Zealand, aimed at strengthening the pipeline of paddlers from grassroots through to the international stage.
The national body is recruiting for a National Pathway Lead and a National Pathway Coordinator, both focused on developing athletes, supporting coaches, and building clear progression routes through the sport.
The National Pathway Lead is a full-time position based in either Auckland or Cambridge. The role centres on developing and delivering a national athlete pathway strategy, working alongside clubs, coaches, and key stakeholders to create a consistent approach to athlete development. The successful candidate will also be expected to drive coach and leadership capability across the wider sport system.
CRNZ is looking for someone with proven experience in sports development, talent identification, or pathway programmes, along with a strong understanding of high-performance systems. A tertiary qualification in sport or a related field is preferred, and knowledge of kayaking in New Zealand is an advantage.
The National Pathway Coordinator is a part-time position open to applicants anywhere in Aotearoa. It involves coordinating and delivering national and regional pathway initiatives, including training camps, talent identification activities, and coach development opportunities. CRNZ wants someone who can work independently across a regional portfolio, with experience in athlete or coach development in canoe racing or a similar sport.
Both roles sit within an organisation whose competitive remit covers sprint, marathon, and ocean ski kayaking. CRNZ's performance goals include supporting New Zealand kayakers to win Olympic and World Championship medals, alongside identifying and preparing the next generation of high-performance athletes.
