Emergency services responded to a boating accident at Port Waikato on Saturday after a vessel capsized, sending its occupants into the water.
Police received reports of people in the water north of Sunset Beach at around 7:15am. Surf Life Saving crews and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter both attended the scene alongside police.
Three people were taken to hospital following the incident. The condition of those rescued had not been confirmed at the time of reporting.
