New Zealand's Megan Thomson and the 2.0 Racing crew have advanced to the semi-finals of the 2025 Women's Match Racing World Championship, coming through a tight best-of-three quarter-final against France's Julia D'Amodio on Lake Michigan.
Thomson got off to a strong start, claiming the opening race with a composed performance. D'Amodio, skippering Shark Caviar Team, responded sharply in Race 2 to level the series and force a decider. When it mattered most, Thomson showed her class. She kept 2.0 Racing clean through the pre-start, controlled the first beat, and converted her advantage into a decisive win, sealing the series 2–1.
The victory adds two more wins to Thomson's knockout tally, building on nine wins earned through the round robin. For D'Amodio, the loss brought an end to a spirited campaign that had seen her battle into the top eight on a 5–6 round robin record.
Thomson joins Lea Richter Vogelius (DEN), Pauline Courtois (FRA), and Juliet Costanzo (AUS) in the final four. With the semi-finals set to determine who contests the championship match, the last day of racing in Chicago promises a thrilling conclusion to the 2025 Women's Match Racing World Championship.
