Taiga launches two-seat Orca P2 and three-seat WX3 electric watercraft for 2026

Taiga, the Canadian company pushing electrification beyond the road, has revealed its next-generation Orca electric watercraft lineup at the Monaco Yacht Club. The announcement covers two models: the updated two-seat Orca P2, which continues to chase the limits of on-water performance, and the all-new three-seat Orca WX3, a crossover platform aimed at touring, tow-sports, and family adventures.

"Where the industry sees challenges in electrification, we see possibility through innovation," said Samuel Bruneau, CEO of Taiga. "With the launch of our 2026 Orca lineup and breakthrough digital features, we're showing that electric watercraft can set a new benchmark for performance, value, and adventure."

The Orca WX3 is the headline addition to the range. Built around a hydrodynamically engineered extended hull, it offers exceptional stability whether the crew is cruising, casting from the rear deck, or getting on plane quickly. A reinforced tow system and accessory-ready rear platform make the craft well suited to wakeboarding, waterskiing, tubing, and fishing configurations, while a newly designed three-person seat has been ergonomically shaped for multi-rider comfort and positioned to lower the centre of gravity for more confident handling. Taiga says riders can expect up to two hours of fun on the water from the WX3.

The Orca P2, meanwhile, steps up from the former Orca Performance model as the lineup's performance benchmark. It retains the instant acceleration and industry-leading handling the nameplate is known for, now delivered through a lighter and more refined platform focused on pure exhilaration.

Both models benefit from engineering refinements drawn from fleet data and customer feedback, with an emphasis on simplifying systems to improve performance, durability, and ease of ownership. Taiga has consolidated components across the thermal, trim, steering, and propulsion systems to reduce part count, while new alloys and aerospace-grade anodisation have been introduced to strengthen corrosion resistance.

The 2026 lineup brings a new suite of connectivity and control features. An onboard mapping system lets riders view their live location and navigate directly from the dash, while a geofencing capability allows owners to define boundaries or cap speeds in designated areas. That feature is particularly useful for safety in congested waterways or for fleet operators overseeing large groups. Families and tour operators can also configure custom power and speed limits to suit riders of varying experience levels, and a new shareable digital key system makes granting or restricting access to specific users straightforward. A premium audio speaker system with Bluetooth connectivity is available as an add-on for 2026.

Bidirectional charging is new to the Orca lineup for 2026. By allowing the craft to discharge power outward, owners can draw on it as a mobile energy source, whether supporting a home during a power outage, recharging equipment at the dock, powering hotel loads aboard a yacht, or bringing electricity to an off-grid cabin.

From 2026, all Orca models will come equipped with automotive-grade fast charging, using CCS1 in North America and CCS2 in Europe. This compatibility with the same widespread charging networks used by electric cars is a practical step forward for riders, and with recent advances in battery design and software, the Orca can charge in under 30 minutes using a DC fast charger.

At the core of each model sits Taiga's next-generation electric powertrain, designed from a clean sheet and manufactured entirely in-house to achieve what the company describes as the highest energy density in the industry. The new integrated Tractive Unit combines an IPM motor and inverter in a single package, with a fully redesigned control algorithm delivering precise and responsive power even in the harshest conditions. Through state-of-the-art automated manufacturing, Taiga has introduced an optimised stator winding that improves thermal efficiency by more than 15 per cent, extending the peak power operating window without overheating and lifting vehicle efficiency at high speeds.

The latest battery pack introduces fused cooling panel technology that optimises fluid flow across the pack, improving temperature uniformity and increasing continuous power output by up to 65 per cent in hot-weather marine environments. Refinements to the battery management system reduce quiescent drain to the point where the craft can remain unplugged in storage for up to several years without requiring a recharge. Combined with software updates, the Orca sustains peak performance for longer and handles extended fast charging more capably.

As with all Orca models, the closed-loop cooling system keeps pollutants out of the water entirely and removes the need for seasonal winterisation.

Three new colourways complete the 2026 reveal. Miami Blue pairs a vibrant electric tone with warm sand-coloured marine mats, drawing on the energetic spirit of Miami's coastline. Monte Carlo Red, a deep premium metallic red with darker undertones, evokes the luxury of supercar design and marks Taiga's European launch in Monaco. Titanium Pink blends metallic titanium with the warmth of a coastal sunset, producing a bold hue that shifts between elegance and energy.
