Everything rested on Race 7. Australia had already locked in a berth in the grand final, but the remaining two places were still up for grabs, with Emirates GBR, France, Germany, and the Black Foils all fighting to stay alive.
France and Germany got away well from the middle of the start line, while Emirates GBR also produced a clean departure. New Zealand and Denmark were less fortunate, finding themselves behind early and forced to work their way through the fleet under pressure.
Germany, sailing in front of their home crowd in Sassnitz, desperately needed a big result to keep their campaign going. There were flickers of genuine pace at moments across the race, but the consistency required to stay with the front group never quite materialised, and the pressure of the situation appeared to weigh on them.

Switzerland's Sébastien Schneiter and his crew quietly produced the standout performance of their season while the qualification drama played out around them. Reading the shifting breeze with real precision, they worked their way clear on the final legs and held their composure to cross the finish line first. The result came too late to change anything in the overall standings, but it was a timely and meaningful achievement for the programme, a reminder that on their day the Swiss can match the best in the fleet.
Emirates GBR continued the strong form they had shown throughout Super Sunday, crossing in second place. That result gave them two race wins and a runner-up finish across the three Sunday races, an exceptional day by any measure. Australia came home third, a result that formally confirmed their place alongside Emirates GBR in the final.
Fourth position went to France. Quentin Delapierre's crew held their nerve when it mattered, keeping the Black Foils and Denmark at bay to claim the last qualifying spot. Germany finished seventh, ending their hopes of competing for the title on home water. It was a particularly hard outcome for a team that had won Race 1 and carried so much momentum and crowd support into the day.
The Black Foils crossed fifth, showing the speed they are capable of in bursts, but a run of mid-fleet results across the day had already made their situation too difficult to recover from, and they missed the cut along with Germany and Denmark.
With the fleet racing complete, the three-boat final was set. Australia, Emirates GBR, and France would go head to head in the winner-takes-all showdown for the Germany Sail Grand Prix title. For the teams heading home, Sassnitz delivered an unforgiving lesson: in shifting and unpredictable conditions, a single poor race carried consequences that were almost impossible to undo.
