Sunreef Yachts has unveiled WETRA, a new intelligent yacht management ecosystem designed to simplify how modern yachts are operated, monitored and maintained. The brand already pushes hard on hybrid and solar propulsion, and WETRA shows how far superyacht catamarans are moving into digital territory, a shift multihull owners and charter operators in the Pacific will want to watch.
Developed in-house by Sunreef's engineering team, WETRA pulls navigation, comfort, safety, energy management, connectivity and technical monitoring into a single digital environment. Rather than bolting on more systems for crews to juggle, the idea is to simplify what already exists.

At the helm, that means replacing a cluster of separate displays with one fully configurable ultrawide interface. Navigation, propulsion, tank levels, electrical systems, weather data, alarms and cameras can all be arranged depending on what the yacht is doing at the time. Cruising, manoeuvring, docking and anchoring each get their own priority view, cutting down the clutter crews have to sift through.
The same connected approach runs through onboard comfort. Lighting, air conditioning and entertainment can be controlled from touchscreens, tablets or phones, with voice control available for some functions. The system can even adjust certain settings automatically based on occupancy and time of day, while leaving the crew in overall control.

Energy management gets similar treatment. WETRA can handle automated load management and generator operation based on real demand, and its forecasting tools help estimate remaining battery autonomy. That should mean less unnecessary generator running and sharper use of onboard power.
The maintenance side may matter most.

Rather than waiting for a conventional alarm to trip once a limit is breached, WETRA continuously tracks equipment behaviour, watching temperature, voltage, current, pressure, operating hours and cycles to flag developing issues early. That marks a shift from reactive repairs towards genuine preventive maintenance. With the right permissions, technical data can also be shared securely with Sunreef's service teams remotely, helping with diagnosis and preparation before a technician even steps aboard.
The system extends off the boat too, through a Sunreef app for iOS and Android that lets authorised users check energy and battery status, monitor connected systems and prepare functions ahead of arriving onboard.

Sunreef says WETRA has been built to evolve, with room for new sensors, equipment and automation as the technology matures. Artificial intelligence is expected to play a growing role, particularly in operational analysis, anomaly detection and energy forecasting.
The emphasis, the builder insists, stays firmly on usability: simpler ownership, safer operation, smarter energy use, and maintenance that catches problems before they become breakdowns.
