The Settimana delle Bocche, one of the Mediterranean's great old regattas, is returning to the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda's calendar in 2027, racing under ORC ratings as part of the club's 60th anniversary celebrations. The event will run from 26 April to 1 May.

The Offshore Racing Congress has confirmed its involvement, joining the YCCS in marking the milestone year for the Porto Cervo club. Racing under the ORC rating system brings a storied event back to the waters of the Costa Smeralda and the La Maddalena Archipelago.

First held in 1972, the Settimana delle Bocche was the first international competition organised by the YCCS, marking the start of the club's international sailing activities. Inspired by Cowes Week, it was built around a week of racing among some of the Mediterranean's most iconic yachts in Porto Cervo.

The early fleets drew some of the era's best-known names. Giorgio Falck sailed Guia, Admiral Agostino Straulino raced Kerkyra, and Gian Marco Moratti teamed with Nicolò Donà dalle Rose aboard Viva. Serena Zaffagni competed on Mabelle, Commendatore Italo Monzino on Mait II, and American Bill Ficker helmed Charisma, one of the most competitive yachts in the international fleet at the time.

The 2027 edition will feature windward-leeward races plus a long coastal race on the Costa Smeralda and La Maddalena Archipelago courses.

Eligibility will follow criteria set out in the Preliminary Notice of Race, due for publication on the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda website in October. Boats meeting those criteria will race under the ORC rating system.

Sixty years after its founding, the YCCS will celebrate its sporting heritage while continuing the tradition that has established Porto Cervo as one of the world's leading yacht-racing venues. Owners, teams and sailors are invited to save the dates, with further information available at www.yccs.com.
