Carlos Alcaraz, one of the most decorated tennis players of his generation, has commissioned a fully customised Sunreef Ultima 88 power catamaran, marking his entry into the world of luxury yachting.
Sunreef Yachts revealed the commission at the Palm Beach International Boat Show 2026, naming the multiple Grand Slam champion as the latest high-profile figure to join its growing international ownership community.
The Ultima 88 represents the latest generation of Sunreef's power catamaran lineup, combining genuine performance credentials with the spaciousness and comfort the twin-hull format naturally affords. For Alcaraz, the yacht needed to serve two purposes equally well: delivering speed on the water while providing a proper environment in which to rest and recover away from the pressures of elite sport.
The Spanish champion explained his decision: "I decided to order the ULTIMA 88 with Sunreef because I feel they are not only experts in luxury catamarans but true trendsetters. Building with them gives me confidence that this will be the perfect yacht to unwind and recharge. I feel that Sunreef and I share the same dynamic spirit — we are a great match."
Sunreef founder and president Francis Lapp described the commission as a natural fit, pointing to shared values between Alcaraz and the brand. "Carlos is another remarkable personality joining the House of Sunreef – a community of visionary owners whose achievements inspire the world and bring fresh energy to the yachting lifestyle," Lapp said.
Performance sits at the core of the Ultima 88's design. A top speed of 26 knots places the vessel firmly within fast-cruising territory, while the catamaran architecture delivers the stability and efficiency advantages that come with a twin-hull configuration. The yacht is equally at home covering open water quickly or sitting at anchor in comfort.
Social spaces have been carefully considered throughout the design. A generous Ocean Lounge sits aft, featuring a hydraulic platform, unfolding side terraces, and a dedicated garage for water sports equipment, each element designed to keep those on board connected to the sea around them.
Alcaraz's commission will be built entirely around his personal requirements. Four guest cabins complement a forward-positioned owner's suite on the main deck. The full-beam master stateroom draws in natural light and includes a substantial bathroom complete with a bathtub, providing a private retreat while at sea.
Above, the flybridge extends the available outdoor living space, offering room for alfresco dining and relaxation. It reinforces the Ultima 88's dual identity as a vessel capable of serious performance while functioning as a fully realised leisure destination on the water.
The commission reflects a growing crossover between elite sport and luxury yachting, with high-performance athletes increasingly seeking vessels that match their ambitions and lifestyle beyond competition.
