Solar-powered Sunreef 100 catamaran debuts after Monaco premiere

Sunreef Yachts has unveiled Ipharra, the first electric sailing Sunreef 100 Eco, at the Monaco Yacht Show. The catamaran has just been delivered to her owner, a returning Sunreef client, marking a significant step in the Polish builder's push into sustainable large-scale sailing.

Power comes from a 770 kWh battery bank paired with twin 360 kW electric engines. More than 250 square metres of Sunreef's own Solar Skin is worked into the hull and superstructure, generating up to 49 kWp. That energy is intended to run the yacht's hotel loads and cut dependence on conventional fuel sources during long stretches at sea.

Under sail, with a carbon rig and generous sail plan, Ipharra reaches around 8 to 10 knots in 15 to 20 knot winds. Combined with the solar and electric systems, Sunreef describes it as a complete energy ecosystem built for efficiency and extended autonomy.

Life on board hasn't been sacrificed for the technology, though.

The main salon holds deep sofas, a ten-person dining table and a coffee bar, with wide glazing letting light flood the space. A retractable projector screen is built into the headlining. Forward on the main deck, the owner's suite opens onto a private foredeck terrace, with glass privacy panels separating the sleeping area from the bathroom.

Five further guest cabins add flexibility for family trips or longer passages. Four en suite cabins in the hulls can be set up as doubles or twins, and a single cabin sits near the owner's suite.

Natural materials dominate the interior. Oak cabinetry, dark-stained oak flooring and soft upholstery give the space a warm, understated finish, shaped closely around the owner's own input.

Outside, the stern beach club is the standout feature. A hydraulic platform can carry the tender and water toys, or drop down to form a waterside lounging area. Fold-down side terraces extend that space further, and the garage fits two sailing dinghies.

With Ipharra's premiere, Sunreef continues to build its case for electric and solar-assisted sailing at the top end of the catamaran market.
