Matthieu Perraut has been rescued from the water, picked up at 6.15am UTC this morning by the Merida, the rescue vessel operated by Oceanic Assistance. The skipper is safe and now aboard the rescue ship.

The ELVEST team confirmed the news with evident relief.

The Merida's crew, led by Adrien Hardy, is now attempting to right the ELVEST trimaran so it can be taken under tow.

Once the boat has been turned and secured, the Merida will set course for the Azores, where both Matthieu and his trimaran will be put ashore. The ELVEST shore team is already preparing to travel there to meet him and organise the next steps for the campaign.

The whole ELVEST team has thanked the Merida's crew and everyone else who mobilised to help with the rescue, singling out their dedication and commitment to the operation.
