Sealegs International has appointed four new dealers, two in the United States and two in Australia. LC8 Marine, based in Massachusetts and founded by Scott Dyer, is now the authorised representative for the US Eastern Seaboard. Inside Passage Yacht Sales, based in Anacortes, Washington, has taken over as exclusive dealer for Washington State and Alaska.
In Australia, Gold Coast operation LegASea now holds dealer rights across the country outside Western Australia. The team there, Michael Rigby, Natalia Weston and Robert Weston, are the same people who first brought Sealegs to Australian buyers not long after the company began production in Auckland. Motor Yachts Australasia, based in North Fremantle, has picked up Western Australia, giving the country full coverage under the Sealegs banner for the first time.
These four appointments join Sealegs' existing dealer network in the UK and France, including Salterns Brokerage on England's Sandbanks Peninsula.
Sealegs is built in Auckland. The amphibious boat was developed by inventor Maurice Bryham, who partnered with David McKee Wright to found Sealegs International, with production beginning in 2005.
According to the company's history, Bryham crossed the English Channel in a Sealegs in 43 minutes and 12 seconds that same year, ahead of the time set the previous year by Richard Branson in a Gibbs Aquada, though Branson disputed at the time whether the two attempts were run under comparable record conditions. McKee Wright crossed Cook Strait in a Sealegs in 2009, and in 2013 piloted a 7.7m Sealegs RIB around the South Island, both cited as firsts for an amphibious craft. Sealegs also collaborated with fellow New Zealand builder Stabicraft in 2014, and by September 2015 the company had shipped its 1000th craft, with boats in more than 50 countries by that point.
2025 marked 21 years since Sealegs began production, and the company reported last year that it had shipped more than 1,850 craft globally, with dedicated offices now established in both the United States and Australia. This latest round of dealer appointments extends that network further into both markets.
