Rowers sought for self-funded Beach Sprint squad heading to China in 2026

1 min read

Nominations are open for a self-funded Beach Sprint development squad to compete at the 2026 World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals in Qingdao, China, from 18 to 21 October.

The pathway is focused on building athletes toward LA28 and beyond, and is open to Open and U19 rowers across single, double, and mixed classes. Selection is based on potential, and not every class is guaranteed to be filled.

All trialists must attend two events: a development camp on 4 and 5 July, followed by a selection trial at Orewa on 18 July.

The campaign is self-funded, with selected athletes contributing up to $8,000.

Nominations close at 10pm on Sunday 21 June 2026. Full eligibility criteria and details are in the selection guidelines, and questions can be directed to coastal@rowingnz.kiwi.
