ROCKWOOL Racing closed the Great Britain Sail Grand Prix in Portsmouth with a podium finish and an outright race win on the final day, racing in front of packed grandstands on the Solent.
The Danish team, led by driver Nicolai Sehested, finished ninth overall as Spain claimed victory in a closely fought event.
Sunday offered ROCKWOOL Racing the chance to respond after a difficult opening day had left the team without points at the halfway stage. They delivered, finishing third in the penultimate race before leading the final contest from start to finish.
"It was a great way to end the weekend, and it feels a bit like the old ROCKWOOL Racing is back," said Sehested after the final race. "We're still not perfect, and it's been so frustrating for the team to be almost there but not quite clicking. We have to celebrate these moments and use them as fuel for the next event."
Racing in a split-fleet format, ROCKWOOL Racing recorded seventh, sixth and fourth-place finishes in a highly competitive Group A on Saturday.
Strong winds had raised the possibility of a new SailGP speed record on Sunday. ROCKWOOL Racing holds the current benchmark, set in Sassnitz last August when the team reached 103.93 km/h and broke the 100 km/h barrier on water. Despite powerful conditions and spectacular racing in Portsmouth, the fleet could not surpass that mark.
The event also marked the ROCKWOOL Racing debut of Pearl Lattanzi, announced as the team's newest signing on Friday. Lattanzi has won back-to-back WASZP Games titles and was recently nominated for the Rolex World Sailor of the Year award.
"Wow, that was such an incredible first day of racing with the team," she said. "I had so much fun and became much more comfortable being on the boat with other boats around us. I learned so much from the guys. It was just awesome."
Reflecting on the final race, she added: "The last race felt really smooth and easy. To get a race win by staying in front the whole time made things really easy for me in terms of communication. I'm so excited for the next event. It's going to be awesome."
The third-place finish and race win provide renewed momentum heading into the ROCKWOOL Germany Sail Grand Prix in Sassnitz on 22 and 23 August 2026.
