Northland Police are asking the public to help identify a small dinghy found unattended at Hihi Beach yesterday evening.
The dinghy was discovered at around 5pm. Light blue and roughly six feet in length, it has a worn off-white interior. Three freshly caught fish, a fishing net with floats, a loose seat cushion, and a wooden bench seat were all found inside, pointing to recent use.
Before the dinghy can be treated as abandoned, Police want to rule out any connection to a missing or distressed person. Anyone who recognises the dinghy or has information about its recent whereabouts is asked to call Police and quote event number P066683266.
