British yacht builder Pearl Yachts will unveil the Pearl 73 at this year's Cannes Yachting Festival, marking the model's world premiere on the French Riviera in September.
The Cannes show runs from 8 to 13 September. Pearl is displaying three boats on its stand: the new 73, alongside the Pearl 63 and the Pearl 82. The 63 competes in the 20-metre segment, while the 82, sometimes described as a compact superyacht, remains the largest model currently in the water for Pearl.
The Pearl 73's exterior comes from naval architect Bill Dixon of Dixon Yacht Design, sleeker than the model it replaces. On the main deck, the galley has moved aft, sitting between the cockpit and the saloon. Hull glazing has been expanded to bring more natural light below, and new fold-down balconies open up the aft cockpit into a waterside terrace when the boat's tied up or at anchor.
Below decks, the boat gets a new interior scheme from long-time Pearl collaborator Kelly Hoppen. The scheme uses a grey, off-white and charcoal palette the brand is calling Monochrome. Accommodation runs to four cabins, including two master suites, one forward with its own private entrance and a second full-beam suite amidships. Power comes from twin MAN V12 engines, with a top speed of 32 knots.
Pearl's founder and managing director, Iain Smallridge, said the Pearl 73 reflects direct feedback from existing owners and brings together Dixon's naval architecture with Hoppen's new interior direction. He also named the Pearl 100 Hybrid, Pearl's new flagship, which premieres in the United States later this year.
The show opens to the public on Tuesday, 8 September, with the Pearl 73 formally unveiled to media at a press reception on Wednesday, 9 September, at 11am.
