Pasta meets pedigree as Garofalo dresses up for Luna Rossa

Pasta Garofalo has unveiled new packaging celebrating its sponsorship of Luna Rossa, with the launch held at the Circolo del Remo e della Vela Italia, the challenger yacht club representing the Italian team at the 38th America's Cup.

Garofalo, the historic pasta maker from Gragnano, became official sponsor of the Italian challenger in January. This week's event marks the next step in that partnership, with branded packaging now rolling out across the range.

Three of the brand's best-known shapes, spaghetti, penne and fusilli, have had their packaging redesigned to carry both the Garofalo and Luna Rossa logos. The transparent wrapping stays, letting the pasta itself remain on show.

Water links both brands: the Gulf of Naples where Luna Rossa races, and the pot on the stove where Garofalo ends up.

"Seeing the Luna Rossa name on Garofalo product packaging is quite something," said Max Sirena, CEO of Luna Rossa. "Pasta is synonymous with Italy, and Garofalo with excellence, so we are very pleased to see the two names come together."

He added that a sailing team and a pasta producer might seem worlds apart, but share the same approach built on innovation, passion and teamwork. "And being in Naples, with the 38th America's Cup ahead of us, gives this collaboration an even more special flavour," Sirena said.

Massimo Menna, CEO of Pastificio Lucio Garofalo, framed the packaging as more than a marketing exercise.

"The packaging is the first way this partnership becomes part of people's everyday lives," Menna said. "That is why we wanted the new design to be more than simply celebratory: we wanted it to make the dialogue between Pasta Garofalo and Luna Rossa visible, while at the same time expressing our identity and the values we share, research, precision and a focus on performance."

He pointed to the transparent packaging as a deliberate choice, one of the few elements left untouched in the redesign.

"We chose to retain one of the elements that has always distinguished us: transparency, which allows people to see the pasta and immediately appreciate its colour, texture and character," Menna said. "The new packaging therefore becomes a meeting point between our history, our territory and our manufacturing expertise, and a team such as Luna Rossa, whose defining values are research and performance. It is packaging that tells the story of a partnership, but above all it tells the story of who we are and how we look to the future."
