Norddeutscher Regatta Verein has confirmed its status as the team to beat in German J/70 league sailing, winning the penultimate 2026 Deutsche Segel-Bundesliga regatta at Berlin's Wannsee Lake and tightening its grip on the overall First League standings.
Potsdamer Yacht Club hosted both League 1 and League 2 fleets on the same weekend, with 36 club teams crammed into the club's compact lakeside facilities. Race management coped remarkably well, getting through 16 races per fleet despite the numbers.
In the First League fleet, the NRV crew of Tobias Schadewaldt, Leon Passlack, Miklas Schaper and Bjarne Stegelmann sailed close to flawlessly, stacking up bullets on the way to 35 points and the regatta win. Berliner Yacht-Club, sailed by Philipp Bruhns, Valentin Gebhardt, Maxmillian Nickel and Philip Raabe, chased hard for second on 38 points.
Third place went to a fleet newcomer. Joersfelder Segel-Club's team of Christoph Cornelius, Oliver Szymanski, Daniel Schwarze and Jannik Gabriel finished on the podium in three-quarters of their races, good enough for 43 points overall. Kristian Lenkmann's Bayerischer Yacht-Club crew took fourth on 46, with Paul Porthun's Muhlenberger Segel-Club fifth on 47.
NRV holds a similar lead across the season standings. Over five events, the team leads on 11 points from a 6-1-2-1-1 scoreline, well clear at the top. Joersfelder Segel-Club sits second on 24 points, with Muhlenberger Segel-Club third on 27. NRV looks the clear favourite to defend its title again, though the battle for the remaining podium spots is far tighter, just 10 points separating second from fourth heading into the finale.
The Second League contest at Wannsee told a different story. Akademischer SegelVerein Warnemünde, sailed by Mike Tristen, Paul Arp, Adrian Helbig and Luca Leidholdt, tore off five straight race wins before easing through the mid-series and finishing strongly to take the regatta on 39 points. Flensburger Segel-Club (Nele Soker, Janik Fellmann, Thore Kiesbye, Finian Bohnhardt) was second on 45, just one point ahead of Segel-Club Ville in third.
That result has thrown the Second League season standings wide open. After four events there's barely six points between first and sixth overall, with Segel-Club Ville leading on 20 points, Lubecker Yacht Club second on 21 and Konstanzer Yacht Club third, also on 21.
