Thunersee Yacht-Club has claimed victory in Act 2 of the Swiss J/70 Women's Super League, sailed at La Bordée de Tribord in La Neuveville.
Eleven teams from across Switzerland took part, contesting twelve races over a weekend that tested everyone's patience before rewarding it. Saturday brought no wind at all, a long day of waiting on the water. Sunday offered just one race, though a sunset sail in the Joran wind made up for the frustration. Then Monday delivered perfect conditions, letting the race committee at Bordée de Tribord push through eleven races and send the fleet home on a high.
Thunersee Yacht-Club, sailed by Sophie Mosegaard, Fiona Scharer, Michele Guggisberg, Rahel Pfister, Julie Buchmann and Valerie Leuch, were the standout crew of the regatta. Six race wins and a string of podiums added up to 23 points, well clear of the chasing pack.
Regattaclub Bodensee, with Livia Naef, Tessa Egli, Sandra Giovanoli, Dani Rast and Giulia Corbelli aboard, finished second on 26 points. They won plenty of races themselves and were off the podium only once, but couldn't match Thunersee's consistency.
Bronze went to Zürcher Yacht-Club, crewed by Thais de Triolet, Vera Balmer, Katharina Fraberger, Tiare Hurlmann, Vlada Riabova and Johanna Klotzli, on 33 points.
The battle behind them was tight. Regattaclub Oberhofen, sailed by Lisa Thonen, Angelika Siegfried, Romea Fries, Selina Adam, Felicia Adam and Salvina Fries, finished fourth on 35 points, just two adrift of the bronze medallists. Yacht-Club Bielersee, with Lea Tschudi, Dominique Muller, Tabea Richard, Ann-Seline Fankhauser and Malin Karlsson, rounded out the top five on 37 points.
