Ramon Surrey has taken on the role of National Marine Manager at Yamaha Motor New Zealand Ltd, arriving with a depth of industry experience that makes him a recognised figure across much of the local marine sector.
Before the appointment, Surrey spent nearly nine years at Hella Marine, managing sales across New Zealand, parts of Asia, and the Middle East. That experience gave him a thorough grounding in the marine industry and helped him build working relationships with dealers and boat builders he will now engage with in his new position. Those connections are considered a key asset as Yamaha New Zealand looks to build on its current market growth.
"I'm excited to be focussing on the Yamaha Marine business and looking forward to reconnecting with the Yamaha marine dealer network and, of course, the boat builders, many of whom I already know very well," Surrey said. "Yamaha has a strong reputation for innovation, reliability and customer support, and I'm eager to build on that foundation while continuing to deliver value to our partners and customers across the country."
Alan Petrie, General Manager of Yamaha Motor New Zealand, described the appointment as a deliberate one, shaped by both Surrey's personal capability and the company's broader long-term strategy. "Ramon's experience in the marine sector is invaluable for the brand," Petrie said. "Yamaha has long been a market leader in New Zealand's marine industry, and with Ramon stepping into this role, we are well positioned to continue that momentum, strengthen our dealer network and deliver industry-leading products and service to Kiwi customers."
