At the NEXT GEN stand in the Official Race Village on the Lungomare Caracciolo, America's Cup organising team ACE representatives Alice Musto and Eduardo Emiliani presented a plan to bring together student delegations from the countries competing in the America's Cup, building a shared vision on the journey towards Naples 2027.
The programme aims to open new partnerships and international educational pathways, connecting schools, students and teachers throughout the year leading up to the regatta. Starting in Naples, the goal is an international educational community that keeps growing and collaborating all the way to the 2027 America's Cup.
A creative strand runs alongside this, built around the theme "The Sea Everywhere". Students are being asked to devise new ways of telling the story of the sea, sailing and the values of the competition through the eyes of younger generations, symbolically bringing the sea to places it can never physically reach.
On the education side, one workshop will bring Italian teachers together with international experts to test and develop the America's Cup Educational Kit. The workshop uses sport to generate new knowledge and transferable skills, taking an interdisciplinary approach that connects science, technology, sustainability, maritime culture and citizenship.
Teachers will explore and refine activities, tools and content to be made available to schools, shaping an educational programme to accompany students on the journey towards Naples 2027.
NEXT GEN will run further workshops throughout the year. The team will remain onsite at the Official Race Village through to the end of the Naples Preliminary Regatta, carrying the programme forward as the countdown to 2027 continues.
