Yacht Club Luzern has won the fourth and final Act of the Swiss J/70 Challenge League, after a weekend on Lake Bielersee that handed sailors far more time ashore than afloat.
The event, held at Wingreis, was always going to be at the mercy of the weather. Friday brought light winds that still allowed a handful of races to be completed, but the breeze then vanished entirely, leaving nothing to sail on Saturday or Sunday.
With no further racing possible, Friday's results stood as final.
David Erisman's Yacht Club Luzern crew of Mathias Bermejo, Roland Kunz, Samuel Rigert and Erich Bulholzer took the win.
Segler-Vereinigung Thalwil finished second, steered by Edgar Westerhuijs with Simona Hegl, Moira Hegl, Paul Rusterholz and Giulia Corbelli completing the crew.
Société Nautique de Genève, skippered by Arthur Vallery alongside Hugo Beguile, Lucas Bissoli and Arthur Glauser, rounded out the podium in third.
Lewin Liatard's Club Nautique de Pully placed fourth, with Christian Hasler's Société Nautique Rolloise fifth.
With the lake lying glassy and still, the regatta moved ashore. Host clubs Yacht Club Bielersee and the Swiss Racing Sailors put on a dinner for the teams on Saturday evening while competitors waited out the calm.
Organisers thanked both clubs and their volunteers for seeing the weekend through despite conditions that gave the fleet little chance to race.
