Luna Rossa's youth and women's crews are back on the water in Cagliari, using the back end of October to sharpen both squads ahead of next year's regattas. A new face has joined the mix too.

The AC75, meanwhile, has gone into the hangar for a maintenance period, leaving the AC40 to carry the training load for now.

Jacopo Plazzi Marzotto, Luna Rossa coach and Y&W programme coordinator, says the squad is juggling several priorities at once. "We have resumed our training program in Cagliari with the AC40, while continuing to scout for the best talent to join our crews ahead of the 2027 regattas."

The days are split between simulator work, safety drills and on-water sessions, all running in rotation. Senior team members have been brought in to work alongside the younger sailors, helping them settle into the group and get to know the boat.

"Over these days, we are alternating simulator sessions, safety drills and on-water training, with support from Senior team members who are working alongside the young female and male sailors to help them integrate into the group and become familiar with the boat," Plazzi Marzotto explains. "Our goal is to give everyone as much time on the water as possible so they can progress quickly and reach the group's level."

The standout addition this month is Lisa Vucetti. She first came onto Luna Rossa's radar over summer, ahead of the 470 Junior World Championship, a regatta she went on to win alongside Vittorio Bonifacio.

Plazzi Marzotto says that result bore out the team's early impression of her. "We are very pleased to welcome Lisa Vucetti," he says. "She first caught our attention this summer, before the 470 Junior World Championship, which she went on to win with Vittorio Bonifacio, and she is now confirming our excellent first impressions: she is a technically accomplished sailor with a strong aptitude for teamwork, a quality we value highly."

AC40 training is set to continue, with further sessions scheduled through the rest of this year and on into 2027. The AC75 will return to the water once its maintenance programme wraps up.
