Lilly and Pyburn sweep Class 1 and Super Cat at Atlantic City

2 min read

Brit Lilly and Bill Pyburn won both Class 1 races aboard BPR and took Super Cat honours aboard Dirty Money Racing at the Atlantic City Sports Offshore Grand Prix, the opening round of the 2026 XINSURANCE UIM World Championship Series, as a brand new class made its debut on the same weekend.

BPR won both Class 1 races across the weekend, but Sunday's decider was anything but comfortable. Discrete Offshore Racing pushed Lilly and Pyburn to the line, BPR winning by just 5.65 seconds after 10 laps, a sharp turnaround from Saturday, when BPR finished three laps clear. BPR left Atlantic City with 1,801 APBA points and 30 UIM points to Discrete's 1,350 and 24.

The same pairing backed it up in the weekend's single Super Cat race aboard Dirty Money Racing, finishing well clear of Howe2Live Offshore and Wicked.

Team Montlick's Logan Adon and Giovani Carpatella completed both Class 2 races unopposed. HBS Motorsports headed a four boat Super Stock field on points, despite Bad Decisions/XINSURANCE running the fastest raw time, that result carried a one minute penalty, handing HBS the win. In Modified Vee, NMBRVResort.com held off Clouatre Cartel Offshore Racing and SafeCash Racing, after Speed Marine's own quicker run was demoted to last place for exceeding the RPM limit.

A new class makes its debut

The weekend also marked the first-ever race for Vee Limited, a new class RWO added to the National Series calendar this year. Ultimate Boat Racing Experience won the class's debut outing, ahead of One Design Powerboats and Team First Responders.

Conditions ran calmer than forecast across both days, despite a handful of red flags, including a collision in Bracket Class 400 involving Team 07 Racing and Shocker. Roughly 50 boats registered for the event, more than organisers had expected for RWO's first outing at the venue.

Season opener sets the stage

Atlantic City opened the inaugural XINSURANCE UIM World Championship Series, bringing UIM Offshore Class 1, Class 2 and APBA Super Cat together under RWO's new North American world championship structure. The series now moves to Michigan City for round two, the XINSURANCE Great Lakes Grand Prix, 31 July to 2 August, before Clearwater and the Key West finale later in the year.
