Roy Levy and Ariel Gal have moved to the top of the overall standings at the Junior World Championships in Gdynia after a consistent day three.
Conditions made life difficult. Unstable morning winds dropped away completely, sending the fleet ashore before racing could resume. Three races were eventually completed in the Gold Fleet.
Levy and Gal, the 2025 Junior World Champions, were the steadiest team on the water, finishing 5th, 3rd, and 2nd to take the overnight lead.
France's Lomane Valade and Julien Bunel made a strong start, winning the opening race of the day. Finishes of 10th and 17th in the next two races left them second overall.
Italy's Lisa Vucetti and Vittorio Bonifacio are third and continue to lead the U21 category. They are under no illusions about how tight the top of the fleet is. "The battle between us, the Norwegian team and the French team is really close," they said. "We haven't seen today's results yet, but we know they are very strong teams."
The pair go better in moderate breeze. "Yesterday's conditions were perfect for us. We had good speed and managed to read the racecourse very well." Three Italian teams are inside the top ten, which brings its own dynamic. "They are our rivals on the water, but also our friends."
"Being in the U21 category is good because it means we still have time to improve. We are confident about our position and will keep improving," they added.
In the U21 standings, Ukraine's Sviatoslav Madonich and Yelyzaveta Vasylenko are second, with Israel's Tehila Sidis and Amitai Levkovitz third.
