Racing resumes in the Bay of Naples today for Day 2 of the Louis Vuitton 38th America's Cup Preliminary Regatta, with four fleet races on the schedule after light winds trimmed Friday's programme back to just two.
Tudor Team Alinghi head into the day sitting sixth overall on 11 points, having picked up a second-place finish in Race 2 yesterday. The Swiss outfit is skippered by Paul Goodison (GBR) on starboard helm, with Phil Robertson of New Zealand sharing helming duties on the port side. Nicolas Rolaz (SUI) and Pietro Sibello (ITA/SUI) round out the crew on trim.
Robertson remains the clear Kiwi interest for New Zealand followers, even racing under the Swiss flag. His shared helming arrangement with Goodison is worth watching as the regatta continues.
Conditions look considerably better than yesterday. Sunshine, an ENE breeze of 10 to 18 knots and waves of around 0.3 metres are forecast for Naples, a marked improvement on the light airs that stalled Friday's racing.
Four fleet races are on the schedule for the afternoon. Fleet Race 3 is due to start at 14:10, followed by Fleet Race 4 at 14:46. Fleet Race 5 is set down for 15:27, with Fleet Race 6 closing out the afternoon at 16:03.
