Hamilton's Kingfisher Boats will arrive at the 2026 Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show with something the public hasn't seen before. A brand-new Powercat model, developed over recent months, will make its public debut at Stand EX61 across the four show days running from 14 to 17 May. Two further vessels will share the stand: the flagship 730 Powercat and a freshly completed 510 Centre Console Powercat that has already been handed over to the Beyond the Coast team.
The 730 Powercat sits at the top of the Kingfisher range and has been built with offshore work firmly in mind. A 2.49m beam gives anglers, divers, and passage-makers a walkaround deck that doesn't feel compromised, while twin 220-litre fuel tanks and engine options ranging from 135 to 200hp twin provide the range to match. A towing weight of around 3,500kg keeps the 730 Powercat within reach of a capable tow vehicle, preserving the convenience of a trailable boat despite its offshore credentials.
Two layout choices are on offer. An open cabin configuration maximises working deck for those who want every square metre available, while a weekender enclosed cabin adds a forward berth for buyers planning overnight stays. Whichever layout is chosen, the standard specification is comprehensive: hydraulic steering, twin start batteries, Octigrip non-slip surfaces, a rocket launcher, bowrails, and a full wiring loom with an 8-way switch panel are all included.
At 5.1 metres, the 510 Centre Console Powercat packs in a surprising amount of capability. The 2.33m beam and six-person capacity deliver deck space that challenges many larger monohulls, and the twin-hull platform brings a stability advantage that makes anchored fishing and preparing gear considerably more straightforward. Recommended power sits at 115hp, and a towing weight from 1,000kg means solo launching is a realistic prospect.
The oversized bow casting platform suits softbait and stickbait fishing well, and the shallow draft opens up beaches and reef edges that deeper boats can't access. Standard fitout includes hydraulic steering, a self-draining anchor well, an integrated bait station, dual dry storage areas forward, and Octigrip surfaces throughout.
