Marathon Electric Sign & Light has signed on as a sponsor of the Key West World Championships, running November 1 to 8, 2026, bringing a different flavour of support to the event than the usual marine industry backers.
The Marathon, Florida-based electrical and sign contractor has served the Florida Keys for more than 30 years, working everywhere from Key Largo to Key West on residential and commercial jobs. It is fully licensed and insured, and operates what it describes as the largest electrical parts warehouse in the Keys.
The connection might seem an odd one at first glance for an offshore racing event. But signage, power, and lighting around the race village don't appear by themselves, as shown already by Four Star Rentals' role supplying tents and generators to teams setting up in the pits at Truman Waterfront Park & Race Village.
The company's core business covers electrical service and repair, remodels, and new construction, alongside sign work spanning electric and static signage, rebuilds, and maintenance. Its client list includes major retailers such as Walgreens, Publix, and Holiday Inn Express.
There's also a crane service in the mix. A 70 foot sign crane handles lifting jobs ranging from air conditioning units and generators to boat motors and sailboat masts, a detail that will resonate with anyone who has had to deal with hauling gear around a marina.
The Key West World Championships has long been one of the marquee events on the Race World Offshore calendar, drawing international teams and drivers to the waters off the southernmost point of the Florida Keys.
Sponsors like this show how tied these events are to the local community, something also seen in Hog's Breath Saloon returning as a Gold Sponsor to anchor the dockside scene and Fury Water Adventures putting spectators on the water for race days. Marathon Electric Sign & Light's involvement isn't about boats or racing directly. It's about the practical backbone that keeps an event of this scale running, lit, and visible to the thousands who turn up each November.
The company is based at 10690 Aviation Blvd. in Marathon, Florida, and promotes a straightforward guarantee: the job done right the first time, every time.
With the championships still some way off, the Keys will no doubt see plenty more build-up and sponsor announcements before raceboats hit the water in November 2026.
