France's K-Challenge is hiring a chase boat driver and mechanic for its Naples campaign ahead of the 38th America's Cup. The role runs from early September 2026 through to the end of July 2027.
Based in Naples, the position is full-time and freelance, with rates commensurate with experience.
Day to day, the job is exactly what it sounds like on a top-level Cup campaign: keeping the support boats moving. That means towing, safety cover, and shuttling technical crew during training and regattas, alongside engine and mechanical maintenance, electrical and electronics work, repairs, cleaning, and fuel management. Craning operations and general boat handling fall within scope too, and the successful candidate will be expected to attend team briefings to keep communication tight between water and shore.
K-Challenge is after someone with genuine professional background on RIBs or high-performance powerboats in a serious sailing environment. A powerboat licence is non-negotiable. A commercial qualification, Captain 200 or Yachtmaster, is listed as an advantage.
Relevant technical training in outboard maintenance is expected, as is a solid working knowledge of maritime safety procedures. The ability to stay composed and adapt quickly when conditions or priorities shift is essential. America's Cup support operations have a habit of demanding both at once.
Fluency in English is mandatory. French and Italian are useful.
