Emirates Team New Zealand is seeking an IT Support Technician for its 38th America's Cup campaign, with the position open on either a full-time or freelance basis. The successful candidate will carry broad responsibility for the team's technology environment, taking ownership of Microsoft 365 services, IT hardware, network infrastructure, endpoint security, and day-to-day technical support across the organisation.
Microsoft 365 administration is central to the role, covering Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams, alongside user account management, access permissions, and software licensing. Supporting videoconferencing platforms, messaging tools, and office productivity suites forms part of the team's wider collaboration responsibilities.
Network and infrastructure duties include configuring and maintaining routers, switches, and Wi-Fi access points, monitoring the availability of critical systems such as servers and network services, and overseeing backup processes including verification and restoration where required. Managing a tablet fleet from initial deployment and configuration through to ongoing maintenance also falls within scope.
IT security makes up a substantial portion of the position. The technician will administer endpoint protection solutions covering antivirus, antimalware, and content filters, while enforcing the organisation's security policies and access control procedures.
Technical support spans Level 1 and Level 2 assistance for staff, delivered via remote diagnostics, troubleshooting, and resolution. Additional responsibilities include keeping an organised IT equipment inventory, managing device labelling and assignment, and performing preventive maintenance. Printer and multifunction device supervision, consumables procurement, and stock tracking are all expected, and when new employees join, the technician will manage account creation, equipment allocation, and a basic IT induction.
Further duties include administering automation and orchestration tools to reduce repetitive workloads, configuring audio communication systems such as Riedel equipment, and setting up video streaming software. Producing clear procedural documentation, user guides, best-practice references, and security awareness materials rounds out the brief.
Candidates should hold a two-to-three-year qualification in IT, such as a BTS SIO, DUT Informatique, or an equivalent credential, supported by practical experience in IT support, system administration, networking, or automation. Solid working knowledge of the Microsoft 365 environment is expected, with particular emphasis on Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams. Familiarity with router and Wi-Fi access point configuration, network monitoring, and endpoint protection tools is required, while experience with automation platforms such as PowerShell or Ansible would be an advantage. Proficiency in Windows is essential, and competence in macOS or Android is considered a bonus.
The ideal candidate will be capable of working autonomously with close attention to detail, prioritising competing incidents effectively, and adapting readily to new technologies and shifting demands. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users are equally important.
The role is based across Lorient and Naples. Remuneration will be determined according to the candidate's experience and employment status, and applications should include a CV and cover letter.
