Family Boats has spent years earning the trust of New Zealand's boating community, building its reputation on quality international brands, attentive service, and a clear understanding of what Kiwi conditions actually demand. The Auckland-based dealership has matched local boaties with everything from fishing launches to family runabouts, always with an eye on how each boat will perform around our coastline.
Their latest move takes things in a bold new direction.
Swedish manufacturer IRON Boats has built a strong following across Europe on the strength of distinctive styling and genuine on-water capability. What sets the brand apart goes beyond aesthetics. A trademark fender profile incorporating air channels works to reduce roll and resonance, lower the centre of gravity, and deliver a quieter, more composed ride when conditions deteriorate. These are boats designed to look good and back it up.
Family Boats director Peter Carlson is enthusiastic about bringing the brand to New Zealand. "These boats are built for people who want to stand out, but also demand real capability on the water," he says.
Two models will be the first to reach New Zealand, with both the IRON 707 Open and the flagship IRON 907 Open due to arrive in the Family Boats showroom next month.
The IRON 707 Open is designed with social days on the water in mind, offering comfortable room for up to seven people. Mercury outboard options ranging from 175 to 250hp give it genuine punch, pushing speeds past 40 knots while keeping the boat composed across a range of sea states. Performance and practicality sit comfortably side by side in this package.

At the top of the range, the IRON 907 Open is configured around a single-engine setup and rated for Mercury's powerful 500R, with top speeds reaching up to 57 knots. Stability is central to the IRON 907 Open's character, supported by a newly designed stringer system that smooths out the ride and inspires confidence even when the sea gets rough. The result is a boat that pairs serious performance with the kind of composure that makes longer passages genuinely enjoyable.

The arrival of the IRON 707 Open and IRON 907 Open gives New Zealand boaties their first real opportunity to experience Swedish innovation that has been turning heads in Europe. Rugged in construction, refined in character, and unmistakable on the water, these two models mark an exciting new chapter for Family Boats.
