Horizon's PC68A debuts a powercat-first elevator

2 min read

Horizon Power Catamarans has introduced the PC68A, built around what the yard calls the first fully integrated interior elevator fitted to a power catamaran in its size range.

A powercat-first lift

The elevator connects the master stateroom in the starboard hull, the main deck, the flybridge and the Portuguese deck. It features frameless glass doors and an integrated rotating platform that aligns a wheelchair for entry and exit regardless of direction. Horizon and build partner Vision Shipyard in Taiwan describe it as the first installation of its kind aboard a power catamaran in this size range.

Vision Shipyard President Austin Lin and Richard Ford, founder and CEO of The Powercat Company, went back to the PC68 platform and re-engineered it around accessibility, evaluating how an owner would move throughout the yacht and building each solution in rather than adding it afterward.

Five ways aboard

A retractable boarding ramp, widened side gates and a hydraulic hi-lo platform give five separate wheelchair-friendly boarding routes, and a relocated tender crane enables independent transfers between yacht, dock and tender. Once aboard, automatic salon doors, level flooring and generous passageways keep the main deck moving freely.

The galley and master stateroom follow the same approach: repositioned appliances and a purpose-built transfer platform in the master.

Up to 20 hours without the generator

The PC68A also runs Horizon's Silent Living Package: a 1,600 amp-hour Victron battery bank paired with a Termodinamica air conditioning system, rated for generator-free operation of up to 20 hours a day. High-output alternators recharge the battery bank while the yacht is underway.

Fort Lauderdale gets first look

The first PC68A hull makes its global debut at the 2026 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Horizon first teased the project in August under the headline "Something Revolutionary is on the Horizon," describing an unnamed build focused on independent mobility while holding back most of the detail. The teaser page's own image captions, though, already referenced "PC68A".
