IMOCA Globe Series winner Sam Goodchild joins Henri Lloyd as brand ambassador

2 min read

Sam Goodchild, one of Britain's most respected offshore sailors, has been named an official brand ambassador for Henri Lloyd, a move that cements the iconic marine clothing label's ties to elite performance sailing and the athletes defining its future.

Goodchild's character is well suited to the Henri Lloyd identity. Quietly determined and known for an unrelenting work ethic, he represents the kind of resilience and endurance the brand has built its reputation around over decades of outfitting sailors who depend on their gear when conditions turn serious.

His path to the top of offshore racing began early. Born into a seafaring family, Goodchild grew up with the ocean as a constant presence, moving from dinghy sailing into offshore and ocean racing, where he steadily built a name as one of the international circuit's most adaptable and capable competitors. Now 34, he has accumulated a catalogue of significant results, including podium finishes in the Transat Jacques Vabre and the Route du Rhum, before most recently claiming victory in the IMOCA Globe Series, a gruelling offshore championship contested over thousands of miles in some of the most punishing sea states on the planet.

"I've worn Henri Lloyd for years, long before this partnership came about," Goodchild said. "It's a brand that's always had a deep understanding of what sailors actually need, practical gear that keeps you safe and helps you perform at your best."

Henri Lloyd is currently in the midst of a broader brand resurgence, sharpening its focus on performance-led design and technical garments built for elite athletes, while reconnecting with serious offshore professionals. The partnership with Goodchild fits squarely within that push.

Graham Allen, Henri Lloyd's CEO, made clear why Goodchild was the right fit. "Sam is the embodiment of modern offshore sailing," Allen said. "He's versatile, driven, and entirely focused on performance. We're proud to have him representing Henri Lloyd as we continue to build gear that keeps up with sailors at the top of their game."

The ambassadorship goes beyond a promotional arrangement. With Goodchild active across the IMOCA circuit and Vendée Globe ambitions on the horizon, Henri Lloyd will supply him with their latest gear while working alongside him to develop and test new innovations under genuine offshore conditions. That makes it a working relationship as much as a commercial one, reflecting the brand's stated intention to position itself not simply as a storied heritage name but as a serious performance partner for today's ocean racers.

Goodchild is enthusiastic about what the collaboration represents. "Henri Lloyd has always been about making things better, for sailors, for the sport, and for the next generation," he said. "I'm stoked to be part of that story moving forward."

With more offshore campaigns ahead and his ambitions set firmly on the challenges beyond the horizon, Goodchild brings to Henri Lloyd the kind of front-line credibility the brand is seeking as it looks to the next chapter of its story.
