Support boats needed for Napier offshore powerboat racing on 24-25 January

1 min read

Offshore Powerboat Racing New Zealand is reaching out to the broader boating community ahead of its next major race weekend, set for Napier on 24 and 25 January.

With preparations well advanced, the organisation is looking for support boats to assist across both days of racing. These vessels play a vital role in the safe and smooth running of offshore powerboat events, providing on-water assistance, logistical support, and additional coverage across the race course.

For those who sign up, the role offers a front-row seat to the action. Support boat crews work close to the racing, watching some of New Zealand's fastest offshore race boats at full pace in open water conditions, and it is one of the best ways to experience the sport.

Events like Napier depend heavily on volunteer support from experienced boaties, and organisers are keen to hear from anyone available to help across either or both days.

If you have a suitable vessel, a capable crew, and want to be part of the offshore racing scene from the inside, Offshore Powerboat Racing New Zealand would love to hear from you.
